Are you Traveling to Bandera Texas Soon?
A day in Bandera Texas from a 3rd Party People perspective. We had a great day filled with a variety of outdoor activities, shopping, food, and cowboy culture fun for the family.
Bandera Texas was named “Cowboy Capital Of The World” in the late 1800’s, at the time was the staging areas for cattle drives.
Let’s begin our journey with our entrance into town, first thing we see is a welcome sign, which is always welcoming when you are new.
What we see next is this gorgeous river park so beautiful, we had to stop and get a photo for our readers.
This is the bridge that allows for the passing of the Medina River into Bandera Texas. A sight to see indeed.
As you come into town, two cowboys sitting on the porch greeting every Bandera Texas visitor with a howdy.
Colorful shops with outside decor art to delight your eyes.
We found several mural paintings around town. From parks to walls being used for displays.
Courthouse Clock sits at the center of town. Bandera Texas town square is the stage for many retired cowboys who bring extraordinary animals, covered wagons, to be appreciated.
Bronze monument honoring several National Rodeo Champions who hail from the town sits proudly on the courthouse.
The town celebrates tradition and gives hope for future cowboy generations to come.
All the shopping and sight seeing, we made a stop at TJ’s Old Forge in this double patio modern western style restaurant and bar on Main street.
We found a huge parking lot in the back, interesting to note the restaurant had a water bowl for the horses, a place to tie them with some shade. In Bandera Texas cowboys ride their horses to the restaurant, making a pit stop for them and their horses.
The town was only getting more interesting as we discover it. Cowgirl Coffee Company, great spot to hang out, chill, and support a local business. They’ve got a wide variety of eats, sweets, and pastry wrapped meats along with some great coffee and merch.
We walked the town after eating and discovered it has so much to offer. It was nice finding this shaded park to rest from walking and perhaps make a pit stop for the family.
Bandera Texas left us wanting more, good thing we are here in the Hill Country to help you discover this hidden gem.
