One of the artist’s favorite sculptures in Chicago, near the Chicago Art Institute where he attended art society events in the past. The artist told stories of the Fountain of the Great Lakes, or Spirit of the Great Lakes Fountain, as an allegorical sculpture and fountain by Lorado Taft. The bronze artwork, created between 1907 and 1913, depicts five women arranged so that the fountains waterfall recalls the waterflow through the five Great Lakes of North America.
The fountain is a beautiful work of art, to paint it in such detail captures the water energy perfectly. In time we hope for this painting to supersede the popularity of the sculpture itself.
